Commemorative medals, bought at gold value
Besides investment coins we also buy gold commemorative medals. Important difference: these were struck in large numbers and have no collector premium. Their value is purely the gold: the weight of fine gold times the day’s price.
A medal is not legal tender like a coin: it carries no face value. Unsure whether you have an investment coin or a commemorative medal? Send us a photo and we will tell you at once where you stand.

What you best know before the valuation
The price of your coin depends on more than weight alone. Two things often make the difference at valuation.
Tip · Damaged coins
Every scratch counts in the valuation
Even the smallest scratch, dent or ding makes a coin worth less. Damaged coins cannot be resold and must be melted, which brings a melting cost. Undamaged coins have no melting cost and are resold as they are.
Warning · Never polish your coin
A polished coin loses value
Polishing a gold coin destroys the matte sheen (patina) that collectors and dealers value. A polished coin loses its numismatic value and falls back to scrap gold value.
