History
Symbol of Dutch sovereignty and monetary stability
The silver 2.5 guilder with the portrait of Queen Wilhelmina (1880–1962) is the heavy circulation coin of the Kingdom of the Netherlands throughout her 58-year reign. From her coronation in 1898 to the occupation of 1940, this coin symbolised Dutch sovereignty and monetary stability.
With 25 grams of silver at 720‰, each coin holds 18 grams of fine silver. Certain years, especially early examples from 1898 to 1905 and the scarcer coins from the late 1930s, carry a higher numismatic value. The coin is popular with Dutch and Belgian collectors of royal memorabilia. We buy all years based on silver value and collection condition.
