History
A unique post-war chapter in Belgian coinage history
The Belgian 50 francs of 1948, graced with the head of Mercury, god of commerce and prosperity, appeared shortly after the Second World War as a symbol of economic recovery. This silver circulation coin was used until 1969 before being demonetised, and represents a unique post-war chapter in Belgian coinage history.
With 12.5 grams of silver at 835‰, each coin holds roughly 10.44 grams of fine silver. The coin is relatively scarce in excellent condition, which makes it attractive to the silver investor and the collector of Belgian heritage alike. We buy it based on the current market value.
