One of the few official Belgian jubilee coins in solid silver
The silver 500 francs of 1990 was struck to mark the 60th birthday of King Baudouin (1930–1993). It is one of the few official Belgian jubilee coins in solid silver, and it took on extra emotional weight when Baudouin died just three years later, in 1993. Today it is a popular collector’s item among Belgians who lived through his reign.
With 22.85 grams of silver at 833‰, the coin holds roughly 19.03 grams of fine silver. The mix of commemorative value, a relatively limited mintage and solid silver content makes it doubly interesting: as a silver holding and as a piece of recent Belgian history. We buy it at an honest market price.
