History
One of the most impressive silver coins of 20th-century Europe
The large silver 50 francs with the Hercules motif is one of the most impressive silver coins of twentieth-century Europe. The reverse shows Hercules flanked by Liberté and Égalité, a direct reference to the values of the French Republic. This design, based on a medal by Augustin Dupré (1791), has symbolised French cultural heritage for more than two centuries.
With 30 grams at 900‰ silver, this coin holds 27 grams of fine silver, making it one of the heaviest and most silver-rich circulation coins of its time. Commemorative coins of this size are in demand from investors and collectors alike. Condition and year help determine the final purchase price.
